Seton Hill U. Fiction Authors Host Book Reading and Signing

GREENSBURG, Pa. –More than two dozen authors associated with the Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction program at Seton Hill University will participate in a joint book reading and signing event on Friday, June 22, from 7-10 p.m. in Seton Hill University’s Katherine Mabis McKenna Center located on the University’s hilltop campus in Greensburg, Pa.  This book signing event is sponsored by the Writing Popular Fiction Alumni Group as part of the 11th annual Writing Popular Fiction Workshop, “In Your Write Mind.”  For more information, contact Toni Borrelli at 724-830-1005.

This event will launch Writing Popular Fiction alumnus Jason Jack Miller’s new novel, “Hellbender,” which is published by Raw Dog Screaming Press.  The novel is part of Miller’s “Murder Ballads and Whiskey” series which is a unique blend of dark fiction, urban fantasy and horror.  According to Miller, “‘Hellbender’ takes you to a place where love is forever even when death isn’t, where magic doesn’t have to be seen to be believed, where a song might be the only thing that saves your soul.  Strange things are happening at the edge of reality, deep in the forests and mountains of West Virginia.”

In addition to Miller, authors scheduled to participate in the book signing are:  Michael Arnzen, Shelley Bates, Sally Bosco, Lawrence C. Connolly, Gary Frank, Geoffrey Fuller, Sheldon Higdon, William Horner, Scott Johnson, Michael Knost, Kate Martin, Heidi Ruby Miller, Meg Mims, Rachael Pruitt, Maria Snyder, Victoria Thompson, Lee Allen Howard, Barbara Miller, Kristin Dearborn, Lana Ayers, Anne Harris, and Jessica Warman.   Additionally, six publishers, Leap Books, Dark Quest Books, Fantasist Enterprises, Headline Books, Raw Dog Screaming Press and Grit City Publications, will be represented.

All authors participating in the Seton Hill University Writing Popular Fiction book signing event are published writers who are current students, alumni, faculty members or guests of Seton Hill’s Writing Popular Fiction program.

Seton Hill’s unique Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction program teaches students to write marketable novels in popular genres like mystery, romance, science fiction, horror and fantasy. Additional specialties include literature for children and adolescents, and cross-genre blends like romantic suspense or young adult mysteries. Students attend two weeklong, on-campus residencies each year to master the core elements of fiction writing and effective marketing and to gain inspiration from faculty mentors and special guests, all published authors in genre fiction. Established authors mentor students one-on-one as they work toward completing a market-ready manuscript from home. Readings, classes and online discussion about the history, trends and techniques of genre fiction add depth to the student’s experience.   For more information about the Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction program at Seton Hill, visit or contact Seton Hill’s Office of Graduate and Adult Studies at 724-838-4209.
